All,

The 2003 Materia Magica Website Contest judging has been pushed back to start today, November 2nd, and run through Friday, November 14th. I've sent out the judging forms to the judges and will announce the winners sometime after November 14th, once all the forms have been received and the numbers tallied.

Yay. Maybe I'll get pkzone back on the primary server before the "speed" category is judged :(

Yah...it takes 30 seconds for me to just get a blank loading page.

I wish I hadn't lost interest. :(

We should be allowed to see a list of all the sites entered... It's very annoying when people drop their sites soon as the winners are announced so no one can see them and I don't think it could do any harm seeing what sites are entered. :)

I'm not sure what to do about that. Maybe if you take your site down in the first six months I'll revoke the prizes or something.

Just delete them!

:)

For sites that look like they may be "fly-by-night" you could give the reward out in pieces. Or maybe even offer players small rewards for running a site. Like if your clan has an active site you get lower taxes, and players who run sites get maybe 5 DD a month. And I mean *active*, not "bob's player page" where he lists his stats and never updates it.

That's all subjective, though, and requires additional work on my part :P

I'm still not sure why a list of sites entered won't be released. But removing the prizes from people who drop their sites within 6months sounds like a good idea to me.

No one cares about it being subjective...

The important part of that statement was the "its more work for vass"

Anyway,
LETS START THE LIST----
here are the sites I created or helped create!

START POSTING YOURS. We'll release our own list!!!

how would you even plan on taking non-permanent prizes back 6 months later? How would you extract a used Orb of Vandemaar or donation dollars used to buy renewal tokens(for instance)?

It would be hard to track but whatever they renewed change it back, whatever was practiced with the orb change it back.

Zarath, your ability to jump to conclusions and state them as fact with very little evidence is just one of the many things that makes you Zarath :P

I never said I wouldn't release a list of sites, I just haven't.

Actually I just thought of a better punishment then revoking rewards. If they take down their site within a certain amount of time after the contest, then make it so that they cannot enter the contest the following year.

Vass, as is MM, generally no responce to a specific question/idea by the time you first post generally means there _won't_ be a responce. Logic prevails. I'm sure you will release an entire list -- will you release it before the competition is drawn though?

Pretty punctuation and grammar is good and all, but spelling response correctly at least once is probably better. Sorry I could not help it.

PS I do agree a list of the entered websites is nice, improves the transparency of the process a little, plus we want to see who entered.

Given, a lot of English words are spelt c instead of s until they get butchered by Americans, so it's more of a habbit to use c over s. See defence, defense... etc.

Fine clans 5000 or more roots. Fine players 25,000,000 gold.

What if they don't have 25mil gold or 5k roots? :P

Can't really put them into negative, especially if it's an alt or something...

I say curse them and their families...for many generations!

"Momma, why do we have such bad luck."

"Oh, honey, it goes back to when your grandpa entered a web site contest and got busy...he failed to keep it up. It was a mighty big deal with those folk. The lynch mob came looking for his character. They were angry about those orbs, that fake gold and all that other stuff. Yep, they cursed him that day. Cursed him real good."

Restricting their entry for next year seems reasonable. You can't revoke items that disappear after use or penalize someone beyond their means. It appears to be a case where you have to accept whatever happens if a site without a history wins.

I think the oral sex comes after the spankings. I'm not sure where crucifying comes in.
