As the title says, I'm starting a new clan. Target start date is March 26th, though certain extenuating circumstances might force me to delay the date. If you're interested or have any questions, please post here, or send me an email, or a tell/parchment in game.

Probably a side comment on how everyone and their mother wants their own new and shiny clan instead of buying a used one or cowboying up and getting to the top of a clan through hard work and effort.

But that's my guess.

There's nothing wrong with people wanting their own clan. Working hard for someone else's clan is not even close to the same as working for your own.

It should be a little harder to start a new clan though. Simply getting roots doesn't seem like enough.

I'll spare you the 'taking over an existing clan has problems' story, and just say that you can redefine a clan if you put the effort into it.

its much easier to create a new clan, but I'm a fan of using the older clans and keeping the old (lower) numbers. Doesn't mean anything for the game balancing, but still a good thing.

I don't see a problem with starting a new clan. If the person(s) creating it understand what it takes to run a successful clan then it will be a success, if they don't then it'll die.

Sorry for the late response. I'll be creating it within the next 8 hours, and it will be named Perdition's Flame. Still working on the details of the clan hall, targeting it for Sepharia. There will be no rooting requirements, not yet. Why should people join, and what will they get out of it? They get to experience my fabulousness first hand, and bask in my glory, Obviously. Just kidding. New clan, with different people being brought together, working to establish a presence among the older, and more notorious clans. Clans are mostly just for socialization anyways, if you think about it. There's no specific group of people I'm targetting with this clan, anyone is welcome to join as long as you're active, and don't cause issues with anyone else in the clan. And yes Saitok, we'll be toggling PK, if and when we're ready for it.

I'm sorry, Cal, but.. I beg to differ.
Clans, at least GOOD ones, are far more than just 'social chatrooms'. My time spent in 36 really helped me learn more about the game. Sure, I got to meet and talk to some great people in it but it truly enhanced my MM gaming experience. Don't insult well-established clans that really help to contribute to the game and it's players alike by brushing them off as 'chatrooms'.

Though, from the reasoning you're using, you could apply the same logic to Materia Magica itself.

You're taking what I said, and adding condiments when I just wanted the meat and buns. Sure, you get to learn more about the game through clans as well, but how is that accomplished? Through socializing. The entire game is one social network. I'm not insulting anyone, nor am I brushing anyone aside and claiming they're merely 'chatrooms'. Thanks.

I'm looking very forward to forcibly inserting my tourmaline lance down a few choice throats in the future.

And I mean that in the most sexually explicit way possible.

Tsk, for shame. You know I would enjoy that far too much.

Yep, Saitok is right, because apparently you can't have punctuation in clan names and "Flame of Perdition" isn't an acceptable synonymn, so Perditions is what was settled on.

Yes, you're quite right. Flame of Perdition is not acceptable, because while it may appear to mean the same thing, it simply doesn't. Also, while we're being pedantic, I have a bone to pick about your spelling of the word synonym. Have a great day.
