One of my friends used to play it and he got me playing. One of the first things he did was to take me to the hall of honours and pk me in the pk room there :(

How about you?

Perem is a prime example of why we need a time machine that can only send coat hangers into the past.

Computer Science class, 1996. Two other people in the class had characters under level 20. It started out as something to do during downtime in class, and turned into an every night until 2am obsession. Tower of training, slaying mobs in the anthill, and then in the graveyard. Won my first arena battle against a fey barbarian named Nesorith and got hooked.

Back in '99, a few friends all were playing a made up role in aol chatrooms when one person brought us here. They left but I stayed. Rest is history.

I said to my friend, "I'm looking for a game with a nice roleplay environment because I'm tired of writing in the same scene."

He lied, of course, because although few people roleplay now, there weren't many then, either. I stayed despite that.

once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a local bbs with internet access. other bbs users led me here (or rather, to moongate.ams.com, at the time). it was, in an age before youtube, probably the most entertaining thing on the internet, even when there was a limit of 50 simultaneous users that kept blocking me out during prime time...

i've since lost track of all those people, but for some reason i keep coming back.

Back in 97/98ish a few friends in school showed me it. When a teacher came by and told us to keep up the good work with programming we realized we could get away with playing it in school. We all stopped once school was over and I decided to pick it back up again about two years ago out of nostalgia.

A friend introduced me to a very addicting game on Aol back in 1996, Dragon Realms. The game was in beta, and was just a special window in Aol. When it came out of beta, it became a subscription based game. My friend convinced his parents to pay, I didn't have as much luck.

My salvation was finding Moongate a week or two after that. I have been playing on and off since late 1996. No other text based game has been able to hold my attention.

I did have my friend try Moongate/MM at some point. Unfortunately, he quit when he died to a butterfly.

It was maybe 2002. My cousin Yien would always be playing it. I kept asking him questions about the game and he finally let me in on all of this information. I started playing in late 2002 and have been playing off and on since then. He quit, yet i'm still here. Go figure! :P

Someone mentioned this game on Vagabond's Quest.

Something kinda sad about

the way that things have come to be.

Desensitized to everything.

What became of subtlety?

I'll keep digging

Til I feel something

Fluke was my mentor in High School debate class/team back in 2001, and encouraged me to play this instead of working on school work. Best decision ever, clearly.

simply by searching on google about a MUD with ogres as a playable race. There are also other MUDs with that option but I find MM more "handy" and interesting. Also, the staff is really helpful.
