Infravision was an overloaded affect before, so it's been disambiguated into the 4(!) distinct affects that all provided identical functionality. In addition, for accessibility and novice reasons, we've added the ability to adapt to darkness in a room after ~30 seconds in a given room, so you can see without a light. The infravision changes are as follows:
sense-life spell
lets you see the presence of hiding people, and who they are 65% more frequently.
lets you see people in the dark.
'infravision' and its corresponding racial passive:
gives darkness adaptation much faster
'detect hidden' and its corresponding racial passive:
lets you survey in the dark
lets you see (Hidden) objects in the room(?)
lets you track in the dark
lets you see objects on the ground in the dark
lets you search in the dark
lets you dig in the dark
lets you scan in the dark
pense:
gives the ability to see and flee through concealed exits

Infravision/darkness changes

I like this.
Maybe it's more realistic if an adventurer looses his/her adaptation to darkness once enters a lit room instead of loose it in every room regardless of dark and light.
And when (s)he goes from a dark room (stayed for too long) to a lit room,(s)he has to re-adapt to light in the same way (s)he adapted to darkness.

Ok. So, I must ask, because I'm having a bit of a "reading comprehension fail" for this.
before the change, my drow could see hiding thieves and whatnot, as dark gray "You detect a hidden creature" - and I could target them.
Now, however, all I see is a red line: "You detect the faint outline of something moving about" - and I can no longer detect them.
Now, the helpfile for drow mentions infravision as a racial, and I am to understand that one still has to practice it and cast it to get that benefit.
But.. racial sense-life is shown in my affects list. And I thought sense life gave you the dark gray hidden creature line, and infravision gives you the dark red "Faint outline" line.
Racial affects: sense-life detect-hidden
is my affects list wrong? am I no longer supposed to be able see the dark gray "You detect a hidden creature" line and be able to target them?

I just got what you were talking about. The issue is a logic error in the affects display; when it says you racially have sense-life, it should actually read that you have infrared. This has been fixed for reboot.

Well.. seems we're after reboot and I'm experiencing the same issue. I don't see thieves in Sigil anymore.
Here is nice example where A member of the Dark Brotherhood just disappeared while starting attacking him..
pastebin link here
and was not able to see/attack him anymore..
Regarding help elf these racials I should have granted.. don't see sense-life tho..
Racial skills: |
* hide, infravision, one with the forest

So means this I have to practice sense-life ? I don't want prac something it will get fixed soon/changed in game and sense-life is a must...

[1030 ] ELF Elves are slightly shorter than humans, and have a much lighter build. They lack the strength and stamina of the larger races, but are far more agile, both in body and mind. Elves tend to make their homes deep within secluded forests, but always remain in touch with the world around them. The easiest way to recognize an elf is by their pointy ears. Because of their affinity with nature, Elves posses the ability to blend in with their surroundings, can see in the dark, and are difficult to control through magic...
