We've been hard at work for the past 2 months, working on new quality-of-life changes and exhibiting at two conferences on the East Coast.
The first wave of ship improvements is coming in, and focuses on accessibility and convenience. Two new shipwright-specific commands will cut out a bit of repetitive input: SHIP WRIGHT will allow Adventurers to teleport between their ship and the local shipwright's office without having to navigate piers or remember which ship is theirs. SHIP MAINTAIN encompasses CONTRACT, REFUEL, RECHARGE and REPAIR, permitting easy maintenance while pirating.
A new ship upgrade will facilitate naval exploration even for players who use screen readers; ship bumpers will allow ships to run aground without losing shielding or hull points, a maximum of once per minute. This will benefit new captains and VI captains who might not notice obstacles. This won't work in the UG's Southwest Passage due to its sharp rocks, but should be a great boon to captains of all skill levels.
Channel tags can be divisive, which is why we're going to officially support them at reboot. Love them or hate them, everyone will be able to customize not only how they speak on channels, but also how they consume channels. A new subcommand is being added, as CHANNEL PREFIX. Prefixes can be added on a per-channel basis, as well as postfixes which will be appended to the channel message. Those who don't wish to see channel tags can turn it off, via a new set command SET CHANNEL-PREFIX. We urge moderation in both color and content. As this is a wild experiment, only the TALK channel will be supported initially; if this experiment goes well, we plan to expand it to all appropriate channels.
August marks the 4th month that Patronage has been active, meaning that all Adventurers who have donates $20+/month for the past 4 months are now eligible for Patronage perks. This includes the 'emblem of hunters' item, available for purchase from healers, which allows Adventurers to remotely accept/complete both crystal guild quests and orc pursuer quests. Until reboot, the emblem has had its restrictions removed and is available for free use by all Adventurers.
There's a lot more in store, which we'll announce as we get closer to reboot. Barring unforeseen catastrophe, we anticipate rebooting this month.
